Happy Birthday! We turned 27

Computer Environmental Systems Inc., dba Critical Power Systems turned 27 yesterday. We were so busy that I didn’t get a chance to share with everyone else. My apologies.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!!

We have enjoyed getting more mature with age and experiencing things over the last 27 years that have brought great insight to our abilities.

We want to thank all of our Partners, Electrical Contractor, General Contractors, End Users, IT VARs and the like for helping us provide the things that you need for us all to enjoy life to it’s fullest.

We are in the middle of big change once again. Environmentals are what seem to be on a lot of peoples minds. Efficiencies are driving these needs.

Data Center Flooring – Let’s get better Airflow and extend the life of our CRAC.
Rack Design – Let’s get Efficient Rack solutions that allow us to get proper airflow to our Mission Critical Systems. Let be able to log in over the wire and turn ports off for maintenance. Let’s monitor Temperature and Humidity of the Racked Systems and Servers.
UPS Efficiencies with eBoost.
Network Cabling and Electrical experience

Project Management: We need someone who truly understands how a datacenter is run when fully operational and we want someone to PM the Electrical, Network Cabling and Rack Deployment as it is tightly integrated into the IT VAR of choice.

We now have 27 years of working with General Contractors, Electrical Contractors…..IT Integration Partners and we can provide expertise and partnerships together as we Optimize the Next Generation DataCenter with Efficiencies.

We have enjoyed working in the area of Healthcare and MRI needs to Data Center Mission Critical Facilities to Closet POD solutions. We look forward to growing into the next generation of needs.

Thanks again for a great 27 years and we look forward to working with you into the future.

Testing Power (UPS) Availability Architecture

Have you heard what happened?

Amazon Web Services data center had a power outage.  WOW, not 1 time, or 2 times, or 3 times….. Why?

Disaster recovery specialist SunGard Availability Services is expanding its data centers in Atlanta and Smyrna, GA.

Amazon:

  • Downtime for Elastic Compute Cloud customers on Wednesday!  Could this have been avoided?
  • As of the 13th, Amazons EC2 cloud computing service suffered its fourth power outage in a week.

What exactly caused all 4 power outages in this short period of time?  We are very interested in the details you can provide.  Please send in what you find out.

Avoid Future outages: Verify, Validate, Service, Test – Power UpTime/Downtime procedures.  Know what it cost for each of your customers if they can’t access network data.  What are the risks if security door locks can’t open when power is out?

SunGard:  Congratulations!  Disaster Recovery and Data Hosting Providers are growing.

The SunGard facility in Atlanta, GA  is designed to support an additional 350 cabinets of IT space for customers. The power portion of the upgrade includes adding 2.5 megawatts in utility power, doubling the facility’s capacity.  Reliability and Performance equate to confidence.

CBS says Broadcast Companies have need for UPSs

“Providing on the air news and information remains a fundamental tenant of who we are. In a crisis, natural disaster or weather emergency, television is a critical resource for the community,” said David Layne, CBS4 Building Operations and Engineering Director. “A few years ago, television stations may have been willing to go without back-up power. Now, with new digital technologies, our responsibility to the community, and the 24/7 news cycle, it is critical to remain uninterruptible.”
